Dr. Tanmay Kumar Behera works as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Mizoram, India. Before joining NIT Mizoram, he was as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar, India. He also worked at Siksha O' Anusandhan University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. He completed his tenure as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at the Technology Innovation Hub (TIH), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna Extension Center, parked at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, India. He earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at NIT Rourkela under the supervision of Dr. Sambit Bakshi and Prof. Pankaj Kumar Sa. His Ph.D. Thesis entitled "Road and Vegetation Extraction from Aerial Images through Semantic Segmentation" focused on developing a dedicated light weight deep learning frameworks that can produce real-time segmentation outputs under limited memory and computational power over an UAV, thereby assisting its autonomy under critical scenarios. His other research interests lies in the domain of medical image analysis, hyper spectral image processing, drone vision, etc.
